Prayer

Prayer is not only speaking to God, but listening to Him as well. Prayer has 3 levels:

  1. Vocal prayer- basic prayers; speaking the prayers; Our Father, Hail Mary
  2. Meditation- trying to penetrate mystery; focusing on something about God and removing away from ourself and concentrating on what we're praying to
  3. Contemplation- consumed in the presence of God; wrapped up in the mystery of God

When we ask saints to pray for us, it is the same as asking friends to pray for us. The only difference is that saints are in Heaven. The saints pray for people in Purgatory when they get to Heaven, and they will pray for us as an intercession. An intercession is asking others to pray on their behalf.

Only God is worthy of praise, adoration, glory, and worship. We venerate Mary and the saints because of how they proclaimed the Word of God.

The most important thing about prayer is just do it!
