In high school, I was a regular church go-er every Sunday. I wasn't involved in any kind of youth
ministry or youth group in my church, though. Either my sophomore or junior year of high school (how terrible is that, that
I don't remember which year!) I was involved in an after school program called Kids for Christ. But then I got involved in
other things after school so I couldn't attend the meetings anymore.
However, once I got to college, I went to the Newman House, which is the house on campus for the
Catholic Campus Ministries. I remember going there my very first weekend that I moved in at school. I met some of the upper
classmen, and Father Ray's puppy, Pius (named after Pope Pius XII). I went to Church that Sunday and sat next to Mary, who
would be one of my first new friends at Millersville. Mary wasn't Catholic at the time, but Father Ray aided her through the
RCIA program along with a few other students. I was honored to be Mary's sponsor on her Confirmation Day on Easter Sunday.
I got really involved, started hanging out at the house a lot, and started to go Mass on Wednesdays
and Fridays. I met a lot of wonderful friends there, a lot of whom graduated this year. Everybody there made me feel so welcome,
and so at home. I hope I am able to do that for the incoming freshman and transfer students who come by the house.
The class I'm in (the ones who are supposed to graduate in 2007) became really close with Father
Ray, because he was also the new campus minister when we came in as freshman students. I think he bonded with us quickly since
we were all new. Also, we were the ones who hung out at the house the most (the priest lives on the top floor of the Newman
House). However, last semester we learned that Father Ray was reassigned by our bishop to be the Director of Vocations for
our diocese. It was very sad news, and very difficult to say goodbye to him because he is such a great priest, and a fun person
to hang out with. We still keep in touch, though, and he told us to come visit him when we get back this semester.
While I'm not living at school, I live at home with my mom and younger brother (he's 17). We have
great neighbors across the street who are like family. I hang out there a lot during the summer and swim and babysit.
I'm going to be a junior in college this year. My 21st birthday is in September, and I'm still working
on getting a driver's license. Everybody keeps bugging me about it, so I guess I better get it.
I have a wonderful boyfriend, Neal, whom I met at the Newman House. We met our freshman year and
just started hanging out together lot, with our group (there's 5 of us who are really close). We eventually became best friends,
and now we're dating! This month will be 8 months!
And I guess that's my story! I hope you enjoy this website, and I especially hope you learn more
information about our beautiful faith.
